DESIGNER SHOWHOUSES
Designer showhouses offer a different kind of creative freedom. Without the constraints of a client's existing collection or a home's everyday needs, we have the opportunity to experiment, take risks, and explore ideas that can ultimately find their way into our broader work.
We often use showhouses as a chance to play with unexpected color, pattern, and texture, or to lean into a particularly distinctive material or wallcovering. At the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach, a Trompe L’Oeil wallpaper became the starting point for a windowless room, creating the illusion of depth and a sense of looking beyond the walls.
Over the years, we have also had the opportunity to design rooms for the ARF Designer Showhouse in the Hamptons, the HC&G Idea House, and the Hampton Designer Showhouse, where Brian continues to serve as a board member. Each has brought the opportunity to work alongside talented makers, artists, antique dealers, and fabric and wallcovering houses, incorporating their work in new and unexpected ways.
For us, showhouses are about curiosity as much as design—a chance to push ourselves, discover something new, and have a little fun. The freedom to experiment keeps our work evolving while remaining rooted in the same sensibility that guides our client projects.
