ANDORRA ROAD

Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania

Interiors & Architecture by Brady Design • Photography by Marco Ricca • Built by David Biche / Jim Rowe

Set back from the road and bordering Fairmount Park, this Lafayette Hill home was built in the 1950s in a farmhouse style. The existing kitchen was generous in size, but its layout and proportions limited the connection between the kitchen, living room, entry, and dining room.

We opened two walls and removed a poorly placed bay window to create a larger, more connected kitchen with clear sight lines through the house. A 3-inch V-groove wall treatment was selected to reinforce the farmhouse character, while double pocket doors between the kitchen and dining room allow the spaces to open to one another for everyday living or close off for a more intimate dining experience.

The resulting kitchen feels bright, open, and connected to the rest of the home, while retaining the comfortable character of its farmhouse setting.
