Water Mill, New York

Architecture by Brady Design

This Water Mill home underwent a full gut renovation and thoughtful expansion, with the goal of honoring the character of the original architecture while creating a home better suited to modern family life.

An addition to the side of the house created a larger kitchen and mudroom, with a new primary bedroom above, while a rear addition introduced a sun-filled breakfast room. Outside, a brick-walled terrace with a built-in kitchen extends the living spaces into the landscape.

Throughout the renovation, we paid careful attention to proportion, materials, and architectural detail so that the additions feel entirely at home with the original house. We take particular pride in creating renovations where it can be difficult to tell what is new and what is original—a seamless evolution of the architecture rather than an obvious addition.

The result is a home that feels as though it has always belonged in its setting, while offering the space, light, and functionality needed for contemporary living.
