POST CROSSING
Southampton, New York
Interiors & Architecture by Brady Design • Photography by Marco Ricca • Built by B&W
This historic Southampton home is a particularly personal expression of the Brady Design aesthetic—a collected mix of old and new, natural materials, vintage lighting, and a relaxed palette that feels sophisticated while still very much at home by the sea.
Throughout the main house, we mixed found and vintage pieces with more contemporary furnishings, allowing the rooms to feel as though they have evolved naturally over time. Natural materials, particularly in the rugs, bring warmth and texture, while a palette of blues, creams, and soft greys creates a subtle connection to the home's coastal setting. In the stair hall, a statement wallcovering—neutral in color but rich in pattern—draws the eye upward and gives the space an unexpected sense of drama. Each bedroom was given its own distinct palette and personality, creating individual suites that still feel connected to the house as a whole.
More recently, we designed a new poolhouse for the property, approaching its architecture with the same respect for classical proportion and detailing that informs much of our work. At its center, a double-height space draws light down through a cupola above, while pairs of French doors open directly onto the pool and garden. The result is a bedroom that feels airy and private—almost an oasis within the larger property.
The adjoining dressing room was designed to function as more than a closet, with a small settee and sitting area allowing it to double as a comfortable den. In the kitchen, we color-drenched the cabinetry, trim, and walls in a favorite paint color that also appears in the dining room of the main house, creating a subtle thread between old and new. The bathroom offered an opportunity to be a little more playful, with a patterned wallcovering that doesn't take itself too seriously. After all, this is a beach house at heart.
Together, the main house and poolhouse reflect many of the ideas we return to again and again: classical architecture balanced by relaxed interiors, natural materials layered with color and pattern, and an eclectic mix of pieces that gives a home the feeling that it has been collected over time.
